Dear Friends,

Thirty new BOBS arrived at the COVE in July and are stored in containers. They are currently being prepped for shipping to Sidney, B.C., for deployment west of Haida Gwaii using J.P. Tully in early October. Another 20 new BOBS have been shipped by Guralp and we are expecting them to arrive at the COVE mid-August. This will bring the total of the received BOBS to 62, or just over half of the total of 120 purchased. We also received the last shipment from Xeos of 40 sets of recovery devices so we now have a total of 120 sets. The Baffin Bay cruise to deploy 30 BOBS, in collaboration with DRDC, is postponed until late summer 2023 due to the lack of ship time. However, the Laurentian Fan cruise to recover the instruments deployed last November is scheduled to depart from Pictou, Nova Scotia, on August 27, and will be using R/V Coriolis.

Best,

Mladen and Graeme
